Arienne received her Bachelor’s degree in Russian, as well as dual Master’s degrees in Art History and Slavic Studies, from The Ohio State University. Her MA thesis compared the works and philosophical beliefs of artists Kazimir Malevich and Vasily Kandinsky.
After moving to Los Angeles in 2001, she worked at the University of Southern California’s Center for Effective Organizations (CEO), where she was a research associate, web content/social media manager, and events program manager. At CEO, Arienne’s research activities focused on healthcare sustainability and transformational leadership for sustainable functioning. She accrued over 10 years’ experience in managing a variety of special events and executive education programs in the US, Sweden, and Italy. She also oversaw all aspects of the Center’s internet presence.
While at USC Arienne also received a Master’s degree in Communication Management with a focus on Social Media and Online Communities from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. For her Master’s project, she was a member of a four-person self-managed team that successfully launched a new online community website in four months.
Arienne is currently a Lecturer and PhD Candidate in Apparel, Merchandising Design at Iowa State University, where her research interests include dress in social media, online games, and virtual worlds; consumer behavior; sneaker culture; historic and contemporary knitting and crochet; sustainability and slow fashion; and fat studies.
